Manavi Chatterjee, Ph.D.
I joined Lombroso Lab in July 2012, after finishing my PhD in the area of Neuropharmacology and Psychiatric disorders. Before coming here, I was employed as Associate Scientist at the Pharmacology unit of Novel Drug Discovery and Development, Lupin Limited, Pune, India for a brief period after my PhD, wherein my job responsibilities included microdialysis surgery as well as animal behavioral experiments pertaining to learning and memory. I have obtained my doctoral degree at Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow, (JNU New Delhi- Degree awarding body) India. I have been working in the neuropharmacological aspects of psychiatric disorders in my doctoral studies and in my last job. Besides this I was also involved in study different aspect of stress research during various psychiatric disorders.
My work here focuses on investigating STEP inhibitors as potential therapeutic agents for various neurological and psychiatric disorders including Alzheimer’s, Fragile-X, Schizophrenia and Parkinson’s. Being from a completely in vivo background with great emphasis on behavioral pharmacology, I really like learning new techniques practiced in the lab. Overall my project and the work here is very exciting and fascinating. Paul is very kind, patient and motivating even when I present him my unique though interesting results.
